I can't even remember
the last thing I did for
myself. I think it was buy
a box of Captain Crunch
and hide it from the kids
so I could eat it all by
myself. Wow, that sucks!

The last nice thing I did
for myself was treat
myself to a pedicure at
one of those $20 nail
salons. It was really
enjoyable because the
chair massaged my back
while the woman was
doing my feet. It was
awkward letting
someone touch my feet,
but I would do it again
because they never felt
better.

The last nice thing I did for
myself was get my hair cut. I
need to work on that. I can't
seem to get over the guilt
factor. I know you hear folks
telling you that you have to
take care of yourself first.
And while that really looks
good on paper, when it comes
right down to it, I can't seem
to pull it off. I would love to
do more for myself. I used to
love to go to the gym and
swim. I also used to do a lot
of various craft things. Now
my crafts consist of gluing
Cheerios to paper and making
noodle necklaces. I try to
trick myself by saying things
like "Well, I write this
newsletter and that's for me,"
but writing this newsletter is
work - it's not relaxing.
Now that I am expecting my
third child I have a lot of
anxiety over where I will find
|
that time for me. I would love
to hear from other moms with
very young kids on how they
pull it off.

The last nice thing I did for
myself was to learn yoga. I
use it on a daily basis now,
and my life is so much more
balanced. I don't mean to say
I don't have problems to face
- I do. But by incorporating
yoga into my life I have
found a way to create a peace
within that allows me to deal
with life on life's terms
a little more easily.
The funny part is I was
always one of those folks
who thought yoga was goofy.
Only those new-agers did that
stuff, you know. Well, I
wouldn't call myself a new-
ager, but I love yoga!
